Associate Professor Patrick Manning is a clinical endocrinologist and an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine of the Dunedin School of Medicine at the University of Otago. His research interest is in the interface between the brain and metabolism especially obesity. He has undertaken weight loss clinical trials using dopamine agonist treatment, and in conjunction with Professor De Ridder has investigated brain activity using qEEG in people with obesity and how this activity is altered through weight loss. The aim of these studies is to identify the neural signature of obesity in order to develop novel neuromodulatory interventions to promote weight loss.
